West New York killed its first round on the 54th Street Parking Garage. The notice now reads “THIS BID HAS BEEN CANCELED ON SEPTEMBER 28, 2026,” days before bids were due October 1. Now the job is back out. New sealed bids go to the Board of Commissioners on November 5 at 2 p.m. at the Town Clerk's Office in the Municipal Building, 428 60th Street. The notice carries no solicitation number.

Here's the money behind it. Bond Ordinance #22/25, adopted December 17, 2025, appropriated $10,500,000 for “the design and construction of a parking garage” on 54th Street. In March the town came back for more. Ordinance #9/26, adopted March 18, 2026, added a supplemental $5,000,000 and puts the estimated cost of the improvement at $15,500,000. Read that number right. It covers design as well as construction. The construction contract is part of that figure, not all of it.

The town hasn't posted a reason for canceling round one, and the bid notice doesn't describe the garage: no levels, no space count, no classification requirement. All of that is in the documents. If anything changed between the first round and this one, it's in the new set, so don't recycle a takeoff from the canceled package.

Crossing the river for this one? New Jersey requires public works registration with its Department of Labor for “all contractors, subcontractors, or lower tier subcontractors (including subcontractors listed in bid proposal) who bid on or engage in the performance of any public work in New Jersey.” Line up your subs' registrations along with your own.

What to do now: the bid documents have been downloadable from the link in the town's notice since October 5. Get your written questions to the architects by 2 p.m. on October 19, and have sealed bids in by 2 p.m. on November 5.
