New York City's Department of Buildings logged six open elevator complaints across the Bronx, Manhattan and Brooklyn on October 26 and 27, according to DOB Complaints Received records.
The complaints are not confirmed incidents. A DOB complaint is a request for inspection, filed under the agency's ELEVR unit, and each one shown here remains in ACTIVE status, meaning no inspection disposition has been recorded yet.
In the Bronx, complaint number 2452980 was entered October 26 for 2800 Sedgwick Avenue, Bronx, zip code 10468 (BIN 2015379), under community board 208. A second Bronx elevator complaint, number 2452925, was entered the same day for 528 Morris Avenue, Bronx, zip code 10451 (BIN 2000884), community board 201, and is coded under category 6M rather than 6S.
In Manhattan, complaint number 1740221 was entered October 27 for 580 St. Nicholas Avenue, Manhattan, zip code 10030 (BIN 1060907), community board 110. A second Manhattan complaint, number 1740113, was entered October 26 for 3671 Broadway, Manhattan, zip code 10031 (BIN 1062457), community board 109.
In Brooklyn, complaint number 3A86549 was entered October 27 for 50 Lincoln Road, Brooklyn, zip code 11225 (BIN 3114594), community board 309.
All six complaints carry the DOB's 6S category code, used for elevator-related complaints, with the exception of the Morris Avenue filing, which is coded 6M. Per DOB records, none of the six had a disposition date or inspection date attached as of this writing, meaning the agency had not yet closed out or reported findings on any of them.
DOB complaint data reflects requests for inspection, not verified conditions. The presence of an open complaint does not establish that an elevator is out of service or unsafe; it reflects that someone — a resident, building staff, or another party — asked DOB to look at it.
