Twenty-four Department of Buildings violations issued across Brooklyn between August 19 and August 24 are headed to a single hearing day — October 28, at the OATH/ECB tribunal in Brooklyn 3 — according to OATH/ECB hearing records. Every case already carries a result: "IN VIOLATION," with compliance marked "All Terms Met."
The addresses run across the borough. At 503 63rd Street in Sunset Park, a DOB inspector cited Capital Point LLC on August 24 for air conditioners and flowerpots blocking a fire escape landing on floors two through four — a $1,250 code-compliance violation, per DOB records. At 1711 East 3rd Street in Midwood, an inspector cited The East 3rd Street Group LLC the same day for a car parked in front of a fire escape ladder in the rear yard, also $1,250.
Three sidewalk-shed and scaffold cases turned up permit problems. At 169 India Street in Greenpoint, Busko Realty Corp was cited August 24 after an inspector found the sidewalk shed's permit, B01269481-I1-SH, had expired August 6 with no renewal filed — a $1,250 violation. At 491 Court Street in Carroll Gardens, Titan Services USA Inc was cited August 19 for a sidewalk shed built to different spacing than its approved plan called for, also $1,250; electrician Richard Neu was separately cited at the same address for failing to post the electrical permit, a $300 violation. At 2365 83rd Street in Bensonhurst, Nefco Enterprises Inc was cited for a construction fence permit that had lapsed back in March.
Scaffolding drew its own citation at 381 Van Brunt Street in Red Hook, where Redhoek Construction LLC was cited August 24 for a pipe scaffold built with multiple fully planked levels when the approved plan allowed only one, per DOB records.
Housekeeping citations hit three active job sites. At 32 St Andrews Place in Bedford-Stuyvesant, McKenney Construction LLC was cited August 24 for garbage and combustible material piled at the site entry on a five-story new building, flagged as a fire and rodent hazard. At 469 Lafayette Avenue in Clinton Hill, MHR Lalia Construction Co was cited August 21 for debris, dead animals, and loose power cables scattered across the site. At 6202 8th Avenue in Sunset Park, On Star Management LLC was cited August 19 for debris on the 26th, 27th, and 28th floors of a 28-story building under construction. And at 461 Mayfair Drive in Mill Basin, Nino General Contracting was cited for an active site missing its required 8-foot perimeter fence, leaving the rear of the building exposed.
Elevator maintenance accounted for four more tickets, each $625: at 301 Brightwater Court in Brighton Beach (Rampart Realty Co LLC), 1864 85th Street in Bensonhurst (Owners of 1864 Inc), and 3030 Emmons Avenue in Sheepshead Bay (Grecian Gardens Sheepshead Bay), inspectors cited issues from inoperative in-car communication to worn door gibs and missing fire signage. The rest of the batch — building-maintenance citations at addresses including 8618 5th Avenue, 270 Empire Boulevard, 1170 Lincoln Place, 1233 East 19th Street, 160 Driggs Avenue, 3919 5th Avenue, 308 East 52nd Street and 491 Court Street — covers spalling mortar, blocked egress, a prohibited door, a malfunctioning dryer vent, and a missing handrail, all per DOB records.
Separately, DOB's complaint system logged roughly 100 new complaints citywide in the two days before this report, including elevator and construction-safety complaints at buildings in Lincoln Road, St Nicholas Avenue, and Sedgwick Avenue, among others. Those are unverified complaints, not confirmed violations, and none of them have produced a hearing record yet.
