A batch of Department of Buildings enforcement cases is set for OATH/ECB hearings on October 5, almost all of them in Brooklyn, according to OATH/ECB Hearings (Case Status) records.

Most of the cases are marked "DEFAULTED," meaning the respondent did not appear or resolve the matter by the scheduled date, with penalties standing and balances still due.

At 1434 36th Street in Brooklyn (11218), respondent Rofiqul Alam faces four separate defaulted tickets from an August 19, 2025 inspection, totaling $9,660 in violation amounts. Per DOB records, the charges include work without a permit for newly installed electrical outlets and light fixtures, unpermitted plumbing radiator piping, an unpermitted partition wall enclosing a front porch, and occupancy contrary to building records for a room described as "newly created... contrary to buildings records."

At 8 Rutland Road in Brooklyn (11225), respondent 611 Flatbush Ave Rlty Cp faces three defaulted tickets from the same August 19, 2025 inspection, totaling $3,360. Per DOB records, the charges cite construction debris piled against a wall, electrical work without a permit for AC units, and an obstructed fire escape exit passageway.

At 2183 East 72nd Street in Brooklyn (11234), respondent Marta Brodski-Merener faces three defaulted tickets from a September 12, 2025 inspection, totaling $3,030. Per DOB records, the charges cover a front-yard planting requirement violation, a fence exceeding permitted height by two feet, and work not conforming to an approved construction document (job B00574911), which called for greenspace where pavement was instead installed.

Other defaulted cases set for October 5 include 1603 St Johns Place in Brooklyn (11233, roadway occupancy at an active 2-story job site, $2,530 balance due), 1552 President Street in Brooklyn (11213, occupancy contrary to certificate of occupancy for a vehicle parked under a carport, $3,155 balance due), 753 Classon Avenue in Brooklyn (11238, failure to file a certificate of correction, $1,280 balance due), 695 Grand Street in Brooklyn (11211, same type of failure-to-certify charge, $1,280 balance due), 843 Fingerboard Road on Staten Island (10305, roughly 15 yards of construction debris cited at a site, $2,530 balance due), 525 Hegeman Avenue in Brooklyn (11207, a facade failure-to-maintain citation for cracked parapet and exposed, missing mortar, $1,280 balance due), 10216 Avenue K in Brooklyn (11236, a front-yard zoning violation, $500 balance due), 42 Carmine Street in Manhattan (10014, failure to certify correction of an earlier failure-to-maintain violation, $6,280 balance due), 2797 86th Street in Brooklyn (11223, an illegal commercial-district use violation, $3,125 balance due), and a Corona, Queens site at 37-60 103rd Street (11368) also defaulted, per DOB records.

Two cases on the same calendar were resolved rather than defaulted: a tenant-apartment electrical violation at 3613 Avenue D in Brooklyn (11203, respondent Avenue D 3613 LLC) was found "in violation" with an $800 penalty and compliance marked "All Terms Met," and a work-without-permit case tied to exterior LED lighting and floodlights at 51 Clark Street in Brooklyn (11201, respondent St George Hotel Associates) was likewise found in violation, with a $1,250 penalty and compliance marked "All Terms Met."

None of these records describes an injury, and none reflects an active stop-work order; OATH/ECB case status does not indicate whether work at any of these addresses is ongoing today.
