The New York State Department of Transportation is looking for an engineering firm to handle construction inspection for a highway resurfacing job in Suffolk County. The state is taking expressions of interest under solicitation D042236 for work along NY 25A in the Town of Brookhaven.

The state expects the actual construction to cost $10 million and plans to let that contract on February 4, 2027. The project covers a mill and two-inch overlay, drainage work, new pavement markings, and camera detection, with the inspection contract running for about 14 months.

The state has set the M/WBE goal at 30 percent and the SDVOB goal at 6 percent. This tells heavy civil and paving contractors exactly what is coming down the pipeline this winter. If the state is lining up inspectors now for a $10 million Suffolk County paving job, local asphalt shops know to watch for the construction letting in early February.

Inspection and engineering firms need to submit their expressions of interest through the DOT's CSSWeb system by October 27.
