The Ardsley Union Free School District Board of Education awarded four prime contracts on June 4, 2026 for its Bus Maintenance Building, Bus Parking & Related Site Work package. Together they total $9,764,456. The bids were opened publicly on April 30, 2026.
The four contracts, from the board's consent resolutions: Contract #1, General Construction, to ML Inc. of Passaic, N.J., $8,378,000 (base bid with allowances), out of three bids. Contract #2, Plumbing, to VFR Contracting of Briarcliff Manor, $324,000 (base bid), out of four. Contract #3, HVAC, to Sun-Dance Energy Contractors Inc., doing business as Markley Mechanical, of Peekskill, $350,111 (base bid with allowances), out of seven. Contract #4, Electrical, to Naber Electric Corp. of Yonkers, $712,345 (base bid with allowances), out of four.
Each resolution names the winner as the lowest responsible bidder, based on the construction manager Triton Construction's bid analysis dated May 27, 2026. The resolutions give bidder counts but not the losing bids, so there is no spread or second-place gap to compute from the district's record, and no estimate was published with them. Look at the counts. Seven firms chased a $350,111 HVAC contract. Three chased the $8.4 million general contract, which is 86% of the package. Small trade primes on a school job draw a crowd. The big general contract, with bonding and a school-bus site to keep running, draws far fewer.
This is bond work. The district put its capital program to voters as three propositions totaling $143 million, one of them for transportation and grounds, and it has scheduled construction in phases through spring 2027. The contracts sit at 2-3 Concord Road in Ardsley, and the board's resolutions call them Package 4 of the project.
Why this matters. New York school districts bid under General Municipal Law Article 5-A with separate prime contracts, so a garage and a bus lot turn into four awards and four chances for a trade contractor to hold its own contract with the district. Each winner must post performance and payment bonds for its full contract price before the contracts are executed.
