Three small-to-mid federal jobs close today, October 9, and two of them sit on VA campuses within 50 miles of each other, both carved out for service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses only.
At the VA's Hudson Valley Health Care System in Montrose, the agency wants new roofs on Buildings 12 and 27 — gabled, dormer, and flat sections, with asbestos abatement and roof demolition built into the scope, plus new fall protection and some work after normal hours (RFI-002394). The VA pegs the job between $1 million and $5 million, bids are sealed and due 9:45 a.m. today, and the contract runs 365 days once it's awarded. You need to show as SBA-certified SDVOSB to bid it, and a bid bond is required up front with performance and payment bonds to follow on award. Drawings, specs, and Westchester County prevailing wage rates are posted with the notice (sam.gov).
Up in Albany, the VA also wants transformer testing and service work, also SDVOSB set-aside, also due today (RFI-003090). It's a smaller, service-type scope under NAICS 238210 — electrical work, not a construction package — but it's the same bidder pool chasing it: certified SDVOSB electrical contractors who do switchgear and transformer maintenance (sam.gov).
A third VA job on this board is worth flagging for what happened to it, not for today's date. The VA's sidewalk replacement across its Lyons campus (RFI-003091) was pulled and re-issued October 1 as a new solicitation, 36C24226R0131, listed separately on this board. If you were tracking the old notice number, that notice is dead — go find the reissue.
For a roofing sub or an electrical contractor carrying SDVOSB certification, today's two live due dates are real money: the Montrose roof job alone is seven figures with a full year to execute. If you don't have the SDVOSB certification, neither job is open to you as prime — but both will need subs, and VA primes on 100 percent set-asides still have to build a team.
