Three upstate infrastructure jobs close today, October 7, and together they show how much small-to-mid bridge and highway work moves through county and authority channels outside the big-ticket city contracts.

In Schoharie County, the county highway department is taking bids to replace the Lowe Road bridge over West Creek, at 287 Lowe Road in Cobleskill (RFI-002380). A companion posting on the state's Contract Reporter is seeking DBE/MBE/WBE/SDVOB subcontractors and suppliers for that same bridge job (RFI-002952) — if you're a diverse-certified sub or supplier anywhere near the Capital Region, that's a live door into a project most primes will source locally anyway.

Further south in Rockland County, the Thruway Authority is letting Contract TANY 26-23B, a full superstructure replacement on the Garden State Parkway connector bridge over the Thruway at I-87/I-287, mile marker 23.53 (RFI-002036). Bids open at 10:30 a.m. today through the authority's electronic bidding service. A parallel MWBE/SDVOB outreach posting for the same contract (RFI-002288) is still live if you're chasing participation credit rather than the prime bid itself.

And covering seven counties from Ulster north through the Capital Region — Ulster, Greene, Columbia, Rensselaer, Albany, Schenectady, and Montgomery — the Thruway Authority also has an on-demand repair contract open today (TAA 26-22, RFI-001976). This is call-out work: no fixed scope, just a standing contract for crews who can mobilize fast when the Thruway needs something fixed. That structure rewards a contractor who can hold people on the bench and move in a hurry, not necessarily the lowest unit price.

None of these five postings carry a published estimate, which tracks for bridge and on-demand repair work let this way — price is set bid by bid, call by call. If you haven't registered as a plan holder on either Thruway contract, today's the day; the Rockland bridge bid opens at 10:30 a.m. and the on-demand contract closes alongside it.
