Four open state jobs, all bid through NY State Contract Reporter or OGS Bid Express, now share the same October 21 due date after a string of postponements — and for a small or mid-size mechanical, electrical, or general contractor tracking any one of them, today is the day the paperwork stops moving and the pricing has to be final.
The biggest mover is the Peregrine Dining Hall renovation at SUNY New Paltz, Bldg. No. 032 (RFI-001583 and its companion subcontracting listing RFI-001746), let by the State University Construction Fund with bids opened at SUCF's Albany offices. This job has been bumped four times — September 23 to September 30, then October 7, now October 21 — and six addenda have gone out along the way. Addendum 4, issued September 24, revised the geothermal well field plan and HVAC controls scope, and Addendum 6 (October 2) is what set today's date. Any GC or sub pricing this one needs to confirm they're working off Addendum 6, not an earlier set.
At NYS OGS's Centralized Services Building in Long Island City, Queens, the elevator replacement job (RFI-001972) also moved from October 7 to October 21. OGS estimates the work at $1 million to $2 million, carries a combined M/WBE goal of 30 percent plus 6 percent SDVOB, requires a $43,700 bid deposit, and is Wicks Law-exempt — meaning no separate prime contracts required, so a single elevator/electrical contractor can carry the whole scope. Bid documents are on Bid Express.
Across the same OGS Design & Construction pipeline, the HVAC contract for the Building 73 roof and facade job at Creedmoor Psychiatric Center in Queens Village (RFI-002321) shifted its date too — part of a four-contract package where OGS moved all four bid dates from October 7 to October 21 at once. This HVAC piece alone is estimated at $250,000 to $500,000, with a $22,600 bid deposit and goals of 5 percent MBE, 5 percent WBE, and 3 percent SDVOB. A contractor who already walked the site at the September 25 pre-bid meeting doesn't need to do anything new here except confirm the date on their calendar.
Rounding out today's date is the Groveland Correctional Facility guard tower and perimeter fence modification in Sonyea (RFI-002957), let by NYS Office of General Services. It's split into a construction scope estimated at $1 million to $2 million and an electrical scope estimated at $100,000 to $250,000 — a two-trade package worth a look for both a site-work contractor and an electrical sub bidding the smaller piece separately.
