The MTA awarded a contract for climate resiliency work on the Metro-North Hudson Line, according to Mass Transit, and the timing lines up with two jobs already sitting on our own board.
If you're chasing Metro-North work, this is the moment to pull up your calendar. MTA Construction & Development's Design-Build Metro-North Hudson Line Bundle (RFI-000043) is still open for bids, due October 21, with a published estimate around $100 million. Separately, MTA NYC Transit has a related drainage and flood-resilience package out — Contract C40001, the Westchester Train Facility Integrated Drainage and Flood Resilience Project in the Bronx (RFI-001636) — due October 29, also estimated north of $100 million.
Climate resiliency on the Hudson Line isn't a one-contract job. The corridor runs along the river for miles, and the MTA has been chasing flood protection, drainage, and storm hardening on that line in pieces for years — this new award is one piece of a bigger push, not the whole push. A prime or sub watching this corridor should expect more packages to follow, not assume the work is now spoken for.
For general contractors and subs: a resiliency award elsewhere on the Hudson Line doesn't close the door on RFI-000043 or RFI-001636 — those are separate procurements with their own bid dates, and nothing in the award announcement changes either deadline. But it does confirm the MTA is actively funding and moving this corridor right now, which is useful intel if you're deciding whether to spend estimating hours on either bid.
The MTA hasn't published bid-tab detail on the newly awarded contract in a venue we can independently verify yet, so treat the award itself as reported, not as confirmed-by-primary-record on our end — watch the MTA's own bid-results page for the posted tab.
What to do: if you want in on Hudson Line resiliency work, RFI-000043 closes October 21 and RFI-001636 closes October 29. Both are listed on MTA Construction & Development's and MTA NYC Transit's current-opportunities pages respectively — pull the documents now if you haven't.
