The city's Department of Buildings has cited a Staten Island construction site for leaving a perimeter fence unmaintained with an expired equipment permit, according to an active ECB violation on file with the agency.
The violation, number 39560473Z, was issued October 13 against 3511 Property Inc., listed with a Manhasset address, for a property in Staten Island (BIN 4043109, block 1737, lot 56). Per DOB records, the fence was intended to protect the public around a proposed six-story construction project, and inspectors found it in violation with an expired permit — a Class 2 infraction under NYC Building Code section 105.8.2, covering temporary construction equipment left on site without current authorization.
The violation description, filed by DOB, states the condition created 'unsafe conditions to the public and property due to no one maintaining the fence that can allow public access' to the site.
DOB has assessed a $1,250 penalty against the respondent, with the full balance still outstanding as of this writing. A hearing is scheduled for December 22 at 10:30 a.m.; the matter remains pending with no determination yet made.
Separately, DOB's complaint system logged 100 new complaints citywide over the past two days, a routine volume spanning categories from elevator and boiler issues to illegal conversions and construction-without-permit reports across all five boroughs. None of those complaints has a disposition yet and none is confirmed beyond the fact that a complaint was filed; they are cited here only to show the system's typical daily load, not as evidence of wrongdoing at any address.
