DOB logged roughly 100 new construction-related complaints citywide over the two days ending October 15, 2026, spanning all five boroughs, per the agency's Complaints Received dataset.

The categories skew toward routine enforcement: several Local Law 11 facade and elevator complaints (categories 45 and 6M), boiler and electrical callbacks, illegal-conversion and construction-without-permit reports (categories 04 and 05), and a cluster of after-hours and safety-practice complaints (categories 7J, 8A, and 53) across Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx.

A handful have already closed: a 7J complaint at 702 Grand Concourse in the Bronx closed October 14 with disposition code I2 (an inspection finding issued); an 8A complaint at 771 Park Avenue in Brooklyn closed the same day with code A8; and a complaint at 1075 East 58 Street in Brooklyn closed with code N1, meaning no violation was issued on inspection.

Most of the batch remains active and unresolved, including complaints at 50-18 42nd Street in Queens (construction site safety, category 23), 1035 Willmohr Street in Brooklyn (illegal conversion, category 73), and 228-22 141st Avenue in Queens (facade, category 45).

A complaint entering DOB's system is not a confirmed violation and carries no finding of wrongdoing -- it's a report awaiting or undergoing inspection, and several of this batch's closures show inspectors finding nothing to cite.

For contractors and property managers, an active 7J or 45 complaint at a job address is worth checking before bid or closing day: DOB's public portal lets anyone search by BIN or address to see whether a complaint is open, and whether it's tied to a stop-work order or a more serious enforcement action.

The full set, searchable by address, BIN, or complaint number, is available through DOB NOW and NYC Open Data's Complaints Received dataset.
