Eleven elevator safety violations issued October 29 across Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens were all marked Dismissed, according to DOB Safety Violations records.
Every violation in the batch cites building owners for failing to file an affirmation of correction after a required elevator test — either the annual Category 1 load test or a routine periodic inspection — for the 2025 filing cycle ending December 31, 2025. These are paperwork violations: the underlying elevator test was performed, but DOB's records show the follow-up paperwork confirming any needed correction was not filed on time. All eleven were dismissed on the same issue date.
In Manhattan, four of the violations hit a single building at 9 West 57 Street, flagging four separate elevator devices (device numbers 1P30034, 1P30022, 1P30039 and 1P30019) for the same Cat1 or periodic filing lapse, per DOB records. A fifth Manhattan violation was issued at 22 West 21 Street for device 1P3991.
In Brooklyn, DOB cited elevator devices at 2832 West 23 Street in Coney Island-Sea Gate, 1530 East 102 Street in Canarsie, and 280 Frost Street in East Williamsburg. In Queens, violations were issued at 65-20 Parsons Boulevard in Pomonok-Electchester-Hillcrest and 41-14 12 Street in Queensbridge-Ravenswood-Dutch Kills, per DOB records.
Separately, DOB's Complaints Received dataset logged roughly 100 new complaints citywide over the past two days, including several elevator-related entries (complaint category 6S) at addresses in the Bronx and the South Bronx. Those complaints are unverified allegations pending inspection and are not confirmed violations.
