The Department of Buildings served a cluster of Class 2 violations this week across Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx, several tied to sidewalk shed defects and site housekeeping, according to DOB's ECB violations database.
At 5608 New Utrecht Avenue in Brooklyn, Stateline Builders Inc. drew four separate violations served November 2 and 3, covering construction debris stored in an unsafe manner creating tripping, fire and rodent hazards; styrofoam debris found on an adjoining property; workers who allegedly blocked an inspector's access to the building; and a stop-work order tied to the site, per DOB records. Penalties across the four violations total $11,250, all shown unpaid as of this writing. Hearings are set for January 13, 2027.
At 1316 Motor Parkway's listed job site in the Bronx (BIN 3045367), Stalco Construction Inc. was cited November 2 for a sidewalk shed not tight to the building facade and missing required netting, a $2,400 penalty, per DOB records. A hearing is set for January 13, 2027.
At 168 39th Street in Brooklyn, Grenadier Realty Corp was cited November 3 for a sidewalk shed with loose panels, a missing upright brace, and uncapped bolts, a $2,400 penalty, per DOB records. A hearing is set for January 15, 2027.
In Staten Island, 2022 A N J Construction was cited November 2 at 29 Croak Avenue after an inspector observed a truck exiting the site without flaggers present to control traffic around pedestrians, a $2,400 penalty under the same sidewalk-shed-related code section, per DOB records. A hearing is set for January 12, 2027.
At 2444 Bouck Avenue's job site in the Bronx (BIN 2014542), an unidentified general contractor filed under permit X01281848-I1-GC was cited November 2 for combustible debris and tripping hazards across all six floors of a new building under construction, a $1,250 penalty, per DOB records.
None of the cited firms has issued a public statement on the violations as of this writing. All hearings remain pending before OATH's Environmental Control Board.
What to do next
If your site has an active sidewalk shed, check it against infraction code 223 before DOB does — missing netting, loose panels and gaps at the facade are the recurring findings here. For general contractors, the Stateline Builders cluster is a reminder that a housekeeping citation can escalate fast once an inspector is denied access on a return visit. Hearing dates for each cited address are listed above for anyone tracking a specific site or contractor.
