The Brooklyn Navy Yard boiler job is running on two tracks at once, and if you're an HVAC shop it's worth knowing both. The Navy Yard Development Corp. posted its own solicitation for the Building 62 boiler restoration (RFI-000016), due September 22, mandatory pre-bid required — check the posting for the date. But there's also a sub-bid opportunity through the prime, Rocon Corp., for the same job (RFI-001434), due September 21 through the state Contract Reporter. Same building, now called Building 103, same work, two doors in. If you're chasing this one, get in both directions before the earlier deadline closes.

Up in Yonkers, the Armory renovation split its mechanical trades into two separate contracts, both due September 23 through OGS Design & Construction. The HVAC package (RFI-001708, contract 47477H) runs an estimated $2 million to $3 million with an $80,600 bid deposit. The plumbing package (RFI-001709, contract 47477P) is smaller, estimated $1 million to $2 million with a $53,400 deposit. Both carry the same goals — 15% MBE, 15% WBE, 3% SDVOB — and both already held their pre-bid meeting on September 10 at the armory, so if you skipped that walkthrough, check with OGS on whether you can still bid. Plans for either package run through Bid Express.

Rochester's got a smaller, friendlier entry point. BVR Construction is looking for DBE, MBE, WBE and SDVOB quotes on the river wall rehabilitation at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center (RFI-001991), contract 26030, also due September 22. The scope is short and specific — masonry restoration, survey, traffic control and trucking — which makes it a realistic first job for a small certified shop that doesn't have the bonding capacity for a full building contract. Plans and specs are at the prime's office; get on the phone before the bid date.

And in Nassau County, the Port Washington Water Pollution Control District posted mechanical and HVAC upgrades to Pump Stations C, F and P (RFI-002462), due September 22 through the engineer's own Biddy plan room. This is part of the district modernizing its oldest pump stations, and there's a catch worth flagging: you have to buy the digital plan set for a non-refundable $50 fee just to be eligible to bid. No plans, no bid — pay the fee early if you're chasing this one.

Four different entry points, four different trades, one week. If you're an HVAC or plumbing shop with bonding room for a mid-size public job, the Yonkers armory split is worth a serious look — two shots at the same building for two different scopes. If you're a smaller certified shop looking for a foothold, Rochester's river wall job is sized right. Either way, September 22 and 23 are the dates to circle.
