That split is exactly how a smaller mechanical shop gets a shot at a state job that would otherwise go to a GC big enough to self-perform everything.

The HVAC contract (RFI-001708, project number 47477H) is estimated at $2 million to $3 million and carries an $80,600 bid deposit. The plumbing contract (RFI-001709, project 47477P) is smaller, estimated $1 million to $2 million, with a $53,400 deposit. Both share the same goals: 15% MBE and 15% WBE — 30% combined — plus 3% SDVOB. Plans and specs are on Bid Express, and both are also filed as CR#2138581.

Here's the part that matters if you missed it: the mandatory pre-bid walkthrough already happened, September 10 at the armory. If your firm wasn't in that room, you're not bidding these two — check your attendance before you spend a single estimating hour on either package.

While we're on split MEP contracts, Suffolk County DPW is running a single-prime electrical package at the Riverhead County Center Complex (RFI-001685), bidding the same week — September 22 at 11 AM. Scope is straightforward: replace the existing transformers and electrical distribution equipment serving the complex, no design-build games. A Project Labor Agreement applies, and Suffolk's 10-hour OSHA card rule kicks in for every worker once a county contract crosses $250,000, which this one will. Same catch as the armory jobs — the mandatory pre-bid has already closed, so only firms that attended can submit.

Three MEP contracts, three different owners, three different deposit and goal structures, all landing in the same seven-day window.
