Four roof jobs and a sewer emergency close out this week, and if you're a small shop that does building envelope or utility repair, today's the day to have your numbers in.

Start with the two roofs for the state's Office for People with Developmental Disabilities. Riley Road IRA in New Windsor (RFI-002332) and Greycourt IRA up in Chester (RFI-002330) both bid tomorrow, October 1, but here's the catch — both required a mandatory site visit back on September 24 or 25. If you didn't walk the roof, you can't quote it. No exceptions on state IRA work like this; the agency wants eyes on the deck before a number goes in.

Down in Valhalla, Westchester County DPW is working through phase six of its roof-replacement program at SUNY Westchester Community College's Physical Education Building (RFI-002864), also due today, September 30. Six phases in, this is clearly a standing relationship for whoever's been doing the work — worth tracking who's been winning the earlier phases if you're trying to break in.

And if you handle emergency utility work, DASNY has a live one: BMCC's Theater 1 needs an emergency sewer repair with asbestos abatement tied to it (RFI-001993), set aside for certified MBE, WBE and small businesses, estimated $1.3 million to $1.6 million. Pay attention here — DASNY's portal now shows the bid due September 30 at 2 p.m., a full week later than the September 22 date still printed in the original notice, and there's no addendum posted to explain the shift. Confirm the date against the actual bid documents before you build your week around it.

Rounding out the utility side, the City of Rensselaer has an on-call contract open for emergency repair services across DPW, water and sewer (RFI-001428), also due today — the kind of standing task-order work that keeps a small crew busy year-round without ever showing up as a headline project.

The common thread: three of these five are set-asides or small-business-friendly by design, and two of them will disqualify you on the spot if you skipped the walkthrough. Check your calendar, confirm the DASNY date directly, and get bids in before the doors close today and tomorrow.
