Four small jobs hit the board this week with the same October 28 due date, and one of them is worth a second look before you touch your bid button at all: the Coyne Hall renovation at Onondaga Community College in Syracuse is listed three separate times on the NY State Contract Reporter.
RFI-003373 and RFI-003111 both post as "OCC – Renovations to Coyne Hall" subcontracting opportunities — a prime contractor fishing for sub bids on the same scope, filed twice (details at nyscr.ny.gov/Ads/Details/2139849 and nyscr.ny.gov/Ads/Details/2139519). RFI-003291 is a third posting for the identical building at 4969 Onondaga Road, this one flagged specifically as MWBE/WBE/SDVOB outreach (nyscr.ny.gov/Ads/Details/2139783). Three listings, one building, one project, all due the same day. If you're a sub chasing this one, pull the actual bid documents and confirm you're not quoting the same scope twice to two gatekeepers who think they're asking you first.
That kind of duplication is exactly why it pays to read the fine print on a Contract Reporter ad before you build a number — the posting tells you who's asking, not necessarily what's unique about the ask.
Down in Bellerose, Queens, the New York State Office of Mental Health wants concrete pathway replacement at the New York City Children's Center, 74-03 Commonwealth Boulevard (RFI-003200). IFB 26-079 is also due October 28, filed at nyscr.ny.gov/Ads/Details/2139672 — no estimate posted, but site concrete work at a children's facility usually means tight access, supervised hours, and a a real look at the drawings before you guess at tonnage.
The one with real news attached is Westchester County's Building 1 rehab at Westchester County Airport (RFI-002969) — roof, exterior, new heating, plumbing, electrical, lighting, fire and security systems, estimated at $22 million to $24 million with a Project Labor Agreement attached. That one's too big for this roundup on value alone, but the calendar news belongs here: the county moved its mandatory pre-bid inspection from October 7 to October 14, 1 p.m., at the terminal's second-floor administration office. Miss that walkthrough or skip the sign-in sheet and your bid gets rejected outright — no appeal, no second look. Bids are still due October 28; check the documents for the exact time, and confirm the county's MWBE and SDVOB requirements before you price it. Full notice at publicworks.westchestercountyny.gov (WestWorks, Sept. 21 posting).
None of these four postings carries a published bidder count or plan-holder list, so there's no read yet on how crowded any of these rooms will be.
