The city registered two emergency demolition contracts with Housing Preservation and Development this cycle, both going to State Contracting Corp of NY, according to NYC Comptroller's Checkbook NYC. One covers 794 East 160th Street in the Bronx at $630,000, running June 20, 2026 through June 19, 2027. The other covers 927 Grand Street in Brooklyn at $590,000, running May 4, 2026 through May 3, 2027.
Both are registered as Emergency procurements, which means HPD skipped competitive bidding because the buildings posed an immediate hazard — the standard path when a structure is at risk of collapse or otherwise unsafe to leave standing. Both list Non-M/WBE status.
For demolition contractors, this is a reminder that HPD's emergency program is a standing revenue line outside the normal bid calendar — no RFP, no plan room, just a call when a building needs to come down now. State Contracting Corp of NY has apparently positioned itself as a go-to on HPD's emergency roster.
Two emergency demos landing in the same filing window, one per borough, also tells you something about HPD's unsafe-building inventory right now: it isn't concentrated in one neighborhood. A GC looking to get on HPD's emergency demolition list should know the relationship, not the RFP, is what gets the call.
