The biggest private construction project in Queens is holding the meeting that matters. Hard Rock at Metropolitan Park — Steve Cohen's $8 billion casino and entertainment district rising on the Citi Field parking lots — hosts an M/WBE vendor fair on Monday, September 21, from 8 a.m. to noon, at Citi Field itself.

This isn't a mixer. The construction managers running the job — Suffolk and Hunter Roberts — are presenting the project overview, construction milestones, the diversity goals, and the upcoming bid packages, followed by breakout sessions organized by trade: building exteriors, mechanical-electrical-plumbing systems, concrete, interior finishes, and site improvements. In plain terms: the people who will buy out an eight-billion-dollar job are telling certified firms what packages are coming and standing still long enough to be met.

The timing is real. The state Gaming Commission awarded Metropolitan Park its casino license in December, site preparation is already underway on the parking lots, and the development is targeting a 2030 opening — which means the buyout is ahead, not behind. On public work, the bid board tells you when to show up. On private work like this, the vendor list gets built in rooms like this one, before packages ever hit the street.

How to work it: register through the event page, and walk in the way we laid out in our private-sector access guide — current certification documents in hand, a one-page capability sheet that names your trade, coverage area, crew size and bonding, and a clear answer to which of the five trade tracks you belong in. The firms that get called back from these events are the ones the CM can slot into a package the same week.

Both construction managers also keep standing trade-partner registration open year-round — worth completing before the fair so your firm is already in their systems when you shake hands. The doors are linked below. September 21, 8 a.m., 41 Seaver Way, Queens.
