Three separate calls for subcontractors landed in the NYS Contract Reporter Tuesday, all from the same company. Lanmark Group, Inc. is looking for MBE, WBE, and SDVOB subs on three unrelated public jobs — a Queens college renovation, a Brooklyn museum's HVAC swap, and a Manhattan office tower's chiller replacement — all posted the same day.

The Queens job is DASNY's Rathaus Hall renovation at Queens College — a second-floor buildout bundled with asbestos abatement, at 65-30 Kissena Boulevard in Flushing (CRN 2138700). Subs have until September 10 to respond. Next is DDC's HVAC upgrade at the Brooklyn Children's Museum on Brooklyn Avenue (CRN 2138702), due September 16. Then comes DDC's chiller replacement at 130 West 56th Street in Manhattan (CRN 2138703), due September 17. All three are posted on the NYS Contract Reporter at nyscr.ny.gov.

All three ads carry MBE/WBE and SDVOB language — the state and city's shorthand for the minority-, women-, and service-disabled-veteran-owned business participation a prime has to document before a public contract gets signed. Posting a subcontractor call like this is how a GC builds that record on paper before the bid closes, not after.

Lanmark isn't the only one doing it this week. James H Maloy, Inc. filed two of its own subcontractor ads the same day — one for sidewalk work in the Town of Colonie, another for stormwater work in the City of Albany. Whether it's a September deadline crunch or just a slow week catching up, GCs on both ends of the state are casting wide nets for subs right now.

For a sub shop that wants in, the math is simple: three shots at getting on a Lanmark job sheet in one week, three boroughs, three due dates. Miss one and there are two more before the month is out.
