The Department of Buildings issued a partial stop-work order on October 20 at 135-26 Rockaway Boulevard in South Ozone Park, Queens, after an inspector observed electrical work being performed without a permit, according to DOB's ECB violation records. The respondent of record is DK-SSMT LLC, listed at the same address.
Per the DOB record, inspectors found four condenser units being installed at the building's third exposure, with the work roughly 70% complete at the time of the visit. The order directs the contractor to stop all electrical work except what is needed to make the site safe, and to obtain the required permit before resuming. DOB classified the violation as Class 1 — the agency's top severity tier — and cited Section 27-3018(B) of the Administrative Code, electrical work without a permit.
DOB's record lists a $2,500 penalty, with the full balance still outstanding as of this writing and a hearing scheduled for December 29. The violation remains active and the hearing status is pending, per DOB's ECB database.
Separately, DOB's Safety Violations dataset logged two distinct clusters of activity in the past week. One is a batch of roughly 30 facade violations dated October 21, tagged 'FTC-FC-UNSAFE' — an unsafe Facade Inspection Safety Program (FISP) report filed on a building — spanning addresses in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx, including concentrations on Riverside Drive in Morningside Heights, Carlton Avenue in Fort Greene, and Rockaway Beach Boulevard in Arverne. Per DOB's own status field, all of these are logged as 'Waived — Pending Dismissal,' meaning the violations are administratively being closed out rather than representing live, uncorrected hazards.
The second cluster, dated October 14, is a set of roughly 18 'FTC-AEU-HAZ' violations — DOB's code for hazardous conditions tied to local law aging-elevator or enclosure inspections — logged across Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan and the Bronx, including addresses on Kent Avenue in Williamsburg, Bedford Avenue in South Williamsburg, and Shakespeare Avenue in Highbridge. The large majority are listed as Active in DOB's record, with a single violation at 153-33 Hillside Avenue in Jamaica, Queens marked Dismissed.
DOB's complaint-intake data separately logged about 100 new complaints citywide over the past two days, spanning elevator, plumbing, boiler and illegal-conversion categories — routine volume that provides context on inspection demand but is not, on its own, evidence of a violation at any address named above.
