The Town of Babylon opens bids October 15 at 10 a.m. on bid 26G47, facade improvements at 1823-1827A Deer Park Avenue in Deer Park. It's storefront facade work on a Deer Park Avenue building, and it's paid for with federal Community Development Block Grant money, CDBG for short.

The town board set this up in the spring. On April 29, 2026, it awarded RFP 26G13, the engineering, design, bid, construction administration and part-time inspection for facade improvements at 1823, 1825, 1827A and 1827 Deer Park Avenue, to H2M Engineers + Architects, under a contract not to exceed $81,650.00. So check the package for whose drawings these are. If they're H2M's, the firm that drew the job is also the one the town hired to run construction administration and inspect part-time, so read those drawings the way that inspector will.

The town is pushing on this corridor. Its Deer Park revitalization page describes facade work at properties “owned by a single property owner,” meant to “demonstrate the kind of visible, near-term improvements that can restore pride in the corridor and contribute to a more consistent, welcoming streetscape.” That's the town telling you storefront work here is something it wants to show off.

Now, the federal strings. CDBG money means federal wage and paperwork rules. So before you price labor, find the wage schedule and the reporting forms in the package. On a storefront-size job, the paperwork can eat a real slice of your overhead if you don't carry it in the number.

Who's it for? A small GC or a storefront specialist who can work a commercial block on Deer Park Avenue. Pull the package from the Town of Babylon's bid portal, and have it in by 10 a.m. on October 15.
