The RFI Wire's bid board carried 357 open postings Tuesday, down from 364 a day earlier — a loss of seven packages even as the agency mix barely moved.

New York State public work still dominates the shrinking board. The State University of New York system alone carries 20 open postings, the Department of Veterans Affairs 16, the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York 13, and the state's Parks Recreation & Historic Preservation office 11 — the same four agencies that led the board a day earlier, each holding roughly steady while smaller postings dropped off elsewhere.

“Alterations remain the dominant filing type citywide at 9,017 of the 12,305, dwarfing new buildings and demolitions combined.”

Trade breakdown tells a similar story of churn without a shift. General Construction listings fell from 29 to 28 and roofing held at 13, while the catch-all 'Unspecified' trade category — postings whose scope isn't broken out in the source listing — dropped from 136 to 133. That category is still the largest single bucket on the board by a wide margin, bigger than the next four trades combined.

Meanwhile, NYC Department of Buildings job filings — paperwork filed with the city over the trailing 30 days, not permits issued or shovels in the ground — ticked down to 12,305 from 12,364 a day earlier, a loss of 59 filings. Manhattan still carries the most dollars by far, $1.51 billion in filed work against Brooklyn's $792 million and Queens' $840 million, each borough's total essentially flat overnight.

The borough order hasn't changed in a day's time: Manhattan first by both count and dollars, Brooklyn second by count, Queens second by dollars, the Bronx and Staten Island trailing both measures. Alterations remain the dominant filing type citywide at 9,017 of the 12,305, dwarfing the 1,375 new-building filings and 245 full demolitions.

What this means for you: A seven-posting dip spread across dozens of agencies isn't a signal to change strategy — keep tracking SUNY, VA, and DASNY, which still carry the biggest blocks of open work on the board. How we count: Open-bid totals are a same-day snapshot of The RFI Wire's board; DOB filings cover applications filed over the trailing 30 days as of each date, not permits issued or construction starts.
