Advertising Terms

Plain terms for every paid placement — effective September 1, 2026

These terms cover every paid unit The RFI Wire sells: display and sponsorship placements on the site and in print, Yard classifieds, subcontractor outreach notices, newsletter units, and print subscriptions. Paying for a placement means you've read and accepted them.

1. All sales are final

Advertising space, classifieds, outreach notices, and subscriptions are non-refundable once paid. Space is reserved and production starts on payment, and a print page cannot be resold after it goes to press. If we cannot run a placement for a reason on our side — a cancelled edition, a placement we decline — you get a full refund or a credit, your choice. If we made a material error in running it, see section 4. Otherwise there are no refunds, including for a placement you decide not to use, cancel after the ad deadline, or that draws fewer responses than you hoped.

2. Deadlines

Print ad material is due by the 24th of the month before the issue, or the preceding business day. Material that arrives after the deadline runs in the next available issue; the payment carries forward, it does not come back. Web and newsletter placements start within three business days of our receiving final material.

3. Proofs and revisions

Supply print-ready material at the sizes on the rate sheet and you approve it as sent. If we set the ad for you, we send one proof; you get one round of revisions at no charge, and the ad is considered approved if we hear nothing within two business days or by the ad deadline, whichever comes first. Further rounds are billed at the production rate on the rate sheet. Once you approve a proof, what is in it is what runs — we are not responsible for errors in approved material, including wrong phone numbers, dates, prices, or spelling you signed off on. Classifieds and outreach notices run exactly as submitted, edited only for length and house style.

4. Corrections

If a placement runs wrong through our error — wrong size, wrong position, wrong issue, a production defect that makes it unreadable, or a change we made that you did not approve — tell us within 10 days of publication. Our liability is limited to re-running the placement correctly at no charge or crediting the amount paid for the affected insertion, at our option. We are not liable for any loss beyond that. Errors in an outreach notice that we introduced are corrected in the next issue with an amended proof of publication.

5. What we will and won't run

We may decline, hold, or pull any placement at any time — including one already paid for — if it is misleading, unlawful, defamatory, resembles editorial content, or does not fit the paper; a placement pulled for those reasons before it runs is refunded in full. Every paid unit is marked as advertising. Advertisers never influence coverage: a firm that advertises is covered like any other. You are responsible for the accuracy and legality of what you submit, including having the rights to any text, images, and marks in it, and you indemnify The RFI Wire against claims arising from your material. Outreach notices are the advertiser's own statement; the paper certifies only the date and placement of publication.

6. Print subscriptions

Not currently offered. The RFI Wire is web-only right now and sells no print subscription or print advertising. The terms below apply if and when a print edition launches; nothing here obliges you to anything today.

Subscriptions are billed annually and renew automatically until cancelled; cancel any time to stop the next renewal. The current term is not refunded. Issues are mailed USPS to the address on file; keep it current — we replace an issue lost in the mail once per term on request, while copies last.

7. Contracts and changes

Multi-issue and sponsorship contracts are billed monthly in advance and run for their full term; early cancellation does not release the remaining months. Rates may change with 30 days' notice to contract holders; prepaid and contracted placements keep their rate through the term. These terms are governed by New York law, and any dispute is heard in New York County. If a signed insertion order conflicts with this page, the insertion order wins.
