Solicitation SSE 0000561032 covers furnishing and installing collision-avoidance systems with intelligent pedestrian-turn warnings across the bus fleet — the follow-on to a pilot the agency ran on five buses at two depots. The contract runs five years with options, estimated at $1 million to $5 million.

This one belongs to the systems crowd rather than the building trades: vehicle cameras and sensors, onboard displays, low-voltage wiring, telematics, installation and integration, plus testing, training and software support. Because it's funded entirely with operating money, the notice carries no participation goals.

The dates: a virtual pre-bid conference on September 15 at noon — registration through the solicitation notice is required to attend — and bids due September 28. Integrators should walk in with questions about fleet quantities, depot groupings and installation-hour windows, because a retrofit program is won or lost on how many buses you can touch per night.
