This is an advance notice, not the bid. The Army Corps is preparing plans for nine elevated timber pedestrian crossovers giving ADA access over the dunes on the Rockaway oceanfront, at Beach 147th, 142nd, 135th, 131st, 67th, 44th, 17th, 13th and 11th streets, with sand fence and dune planting around them. Options include aluminum railings, plastic lumber decking and removal of 19 timber groins. The Corps puts construction at $10 million to $25 million over about 18 months, with award expected in November or December. The October 9 date is the response date on the notice; the actual bid date comes with the solicitation, so watch for it.
