Lifting girders to make structural concrete repairs, fiber-reinforced polymer wrap on pier caps, heating and straightening a steel girder, and steel repairs at two Nicolls Road bridge locations. This is a rigging, structural steel and concrete-repair package, not a paving job. Sealed bids open at 11:00 a.m. at the county's Yaphank purchasing office; emailed bids are rejected. Every bid needs a certified check or bid bond worth 5 percent of the base bid. Award goes to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, with Suffolk's optional 10 percent Nassau/Suffolk local preference in play. Contract documents are free but only through the county's own bidder site, and you have to register there before you can download them or receive addenda — select NIGP codes 909, 910, 912, 913, 925 and 968 or the job will not show up for you. Your NYSDOL contractor registration under Labor Law 220-i must be dated on or before the bid date and a copy has to ride with the bid; miss that and the bid is disqualified, and your subs have to be registered too. Work over $250,000 also carries the OSHA-training and apprenticeship-program requirements.
